Irwin K-tel would be oh, so very proud....
I was sent this lovely collection of album covers. As we all know, album cover art is a unique and valued form of popular illustration that reached its peak in the 60s and continued until the extinction of vinyl.

A chip off the old Elbow
Since my last entry, which was delayed by injury and family obligations, new neighbors have moved in upstairs.
The injury was the result of a stupid fall while on my 'cross bike, early in the season. It was April, at the time of the Stanley Cup playoffs and I spent a warm evening following the game via internet at the Queen Elizabeth clinic. On average, I fall at least once a season but this was right at the beginning, unusual for me.

first the crocuses, then the garbage
I recently received an email from a reader who inquired about "Montréal garbage town", a site I'd referred to, I searched for it but alas, it seems to have vanished. Too bad. I liked that site and it was kind of a spring internet ritual. But we can still check out Pothole Watch at CAA Quebec.

through a broken glass, darkly
I admit I have had laughably bad luck with roommates (it's been years since I've had one), about average luck with neighbors (that's always a crapshoot) but decent luck with landlords.
Until about month ago that is, when I shut my front door and one of the glass panes (there are three) shattered. It was probably cracked but it was almost certainly old. The front doors are ancient- the outer one still has the original doorbell. As someone who has been a renter most of my life (I grew up in a duplex) I know that repairs to a front door are the responsibility of the owner, unless it is broken deliberately, or through some sort of negligence (wild party, drunkenness etc).

When Hilarious hijinks ensue...
I have neglected my blog again, which may put me in the same league as the clueless parents of THIS psychopath in the making. I think they may even surpass the parents mentioned in the November 23 entry for sheer and utter cluelessness. Sure, let's go on a nice vacation and leave our hyperactive, overindulged teenage son in charge:

the wayback machine
I caught a promo for a new game show on (where else) Fox, called "Moment of truth", which I guess is like Truth or Dare but for the verbally impaired viewers. (Example: have you ever stuff your pants to enhance your appearance? The man who admitted he did also seemed to be guilty of using bad hair dye/weave/toupee/piece and looked like Frankie Avalon).
This is not the information age. It's the age of way too much information; we now know more about everyone else than we ever wanted to know.
That is the theme of Things I Could have Done Without, 2007:
